Return of Grassroots Football - Message from GYFC Chairman

To all Managers, Coaches, Parents, Carers and Spectators.

We have recently received communication from the FA updating everyone with the latest guidelines for the return of grassroots football from 29th March 2021 as per the attached.

In essence these are the same we followed on the return to football previously, with the addition that up until 12th April no spectators are allowed at grassroots football as part of step one of the Government’s roadmap.

Can all managers please remind parents of the need to bring their own water bottles and hand sanitisers and note that Club representatives will need to continue to disinfect all equipment.

Please also remind your parents that we are rolling over the consent to return from previous, but if anyone is not comfortable returning to football, whatever the role, there is no pressure to do so.

Everyone’s health, wellbeing and safety are the priorities.

The Club has updated our Risk Assessments and protocols which are all on the website under the Covid 19 guidance section.

Also attached are the latest guidance on First Aid, please do take time to review.

It’s extremely important that clubs, players, coaches, match officials, league officials, volunteers, parents, carers, and facility providers continue to strictly follow both the UK Government’s latest guidance on COVID-19 and respective bespoke guidance documents from the FA. Any incidents of non-compliance will be reported to the local County Football Association.

Should you have any queries relative to Covid-19 please do not hesitate to contact either Jayne Owles or Emma Toms, the Clubs Covid-19 Officers.

In relation to our facilities, we will have the use of Chelmer Park, Saturdays AM for training and any matches (instead of training) as usual from 3rd April through to 26th June.

No football is permitted by the Council at Chelmer Park on Easter Sunday 4th April.

Obviously with cricket taking place at Chelmer we have had to negotiate with the Council to secure the pitches and all Sunday matches will need to finish prior to 1pm.

On Sundays we have booked an additional 11 aside pitch at Melbourne AM and PM 11/4/21 – 27/6/21 and also an additional 11 aside pitch at St Andrews Park again AM and PM 11/4/21 – 27/6/21 to make up for the loss of pitch 10 and that we can’t play at Chelmer past 1pm. If you are allocated a game at St Andrews you will need to take corner flags and nets.

Foundation and the new Wildcats Centre for Girls aged 5-11 will start back on 10th April at 9am and 10.30am respectively. Please spread the word for these sessions.

Thanks for your patience and support as always.

Look forward to seeing you all at long last.
